Winterthur's World Of Art & Flowers
Almost 60 years ago Henry Francis du Pont opened his childhood home, Winterthur, to the public. Today, it is the world's premier museum of American decorative arts, showcasing an unrivaled collection of nearly 90,000 objects made or used in America between about 1640 and 1860. Displayed in a magnificent 175-room house, set in the middle of a 1,000-acre preserve of rolling meadows and woodlands, Winterthur beautifully preserved mansion offers permanent and changing exhibition galleries, as well as visitor access to its 60-acre naturalistic garden that is rated as one of America's best.
