About the Hagley Museum
Located on 235 acres along the Brandywine River, Hagley Museum & Library preserves the site of the original gunpowder works founded by E. I. du Pont in 1802. Visitors can explore restored mills, worker communities, and the ancestral du Pont home—an authentic view of early American industry.
The Hagley Library supports research on business and technology in America, housing collections that range from eighteenth-century merchant records to modern-day telecommunications. As a proud member of the Independent Research Libraries Association (IRLA), Hagley connects innovation past and present through scholarship and education.
Visitor Information
- Hours: Open six days a week, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. (closed Wednesdays). Last admission at 4 p.m.; arrive before 3 p.m. recommended.
- Admission: $20 Adults · $16 Students/Seniors (62+) · $10 Children (6–14) · Free for under 6 and active military.
- Closures: Closed Nov 3 (for tree work), Nov 24–26 (Holiday setup), Dec 24–25 (Christmas Eve & Day).
