In 1953, Bill and Margie Samuels introduced Maker’s Mark, a bourbon distinguished by its signature red wax seal and handcrafted perfection. Their commitment to meticulous detail challenged industry norms and established a legacy of family tradition that continues to define the distillery today.

In 1985, Hilton Wilmington/Christiana opened its doors for the first time. Forty years later, our hotel has matured and refined in much the same spirit as Maker’s Mark—steadfast in our commitment to hospitality, innovation, and culinary excellence. Like Maker’s Mark, we’ve challenged our industry norms and built a long-tenured family legacy that sets us apart.

In January 2025, four members of our team traveled to the Maker’s Mark Distillery in Loretto, Kentucky, to create a one-of-a-kind bourbon through the Maker’s Mark Private Selection program. With access to five distinct flavor profiles, our team crafted a unique expression that embodies both Maker’s Mark’s artistry and our hotel’s dedication to exceptional taste.

The result is a “one-of-one” barrel of MK&B Maker’s Mark Private Selection—a blend yielding only 200 bottles. This exclusive bourbon is available solely at the Hilton Wilmington/Christiana, featured at Market Kitchen & Bar (MK&B) and at select catered events. It represents a perfect harmony of craftsmanship, community, and celebration—honoring four decades of hospitality with a truly remarkable spirit.
